Ben Catt was born in London in 1970. He studied sculpture at Newcastle Polytechnic gaining a BA Hons and moved to west Cornwall with his wife and three children in 2003.
His work has been shown in several galleries in the UK and is characterised by the dramatic influence of the ever-changing weather and different seasons on the Cornish landscape and coastline near his home.
He paints in a very fluid style with a strong sense of shape and line, often drawing on the canvas or board several times to build up texture.
Ben paints places that he visits time and time again with his family or on his own. “It’s a unique place and I hope that comes across in my work,” he said.
