BIOGRAPHY
Lin Williams is a self-taught artist who began to paint seriously in 2000. After experimenting with watercolour, oils and acrylics, she tried pastels, which have become the medium for which she is best known. However, that could be set to change.
Lin explained: “Being a self taught artist means that my learning comes by way of playing, so whilst not abandoning my beloved pastels I am determined that this year I will venture back to a brush and palette and hope that people will enjoy the results as much as I am enjoying the adventure.”
Having taken early retirement in 2005 and returned to Cornwall, Lin now has the time to walk many miles a week to sketch, gather subject matter and atmosphere.
She said: “It is to catch the very essence of atmosphere and mood that feeds my desire to paint. I want to see the changing light, seasons and therefore the colours alter from moment to moment. I never tire of walking my favourite haunts, looking and watching for that special moment that will draw my eye.
“To find new territories is a great excitement – there is nothing like discovering a huge sky throwing light onto slices of a new panorama, to make me reach for my pastels." |
