Born in Hertfordshire in 1958, Lynn Golden trained at St Albans College of Art and moved to Cornwall in 1976 where she joined the developing Portscatho colony of artists.
She usually paints outside, en plein air, on and around the coastline of the stunningly beautiful Roseland Peninsula close to where she lives.
As well as acrylics, Lynn works with soft pastel. She particularly enjoys the immediacy of the latter medium, which obviously has no drying time, as it means that work can be executed on a continuous basis. The weather, light and season therefore determine the character of each of her art works.
Whilst she principally creates seascapes and landscapes, Lynn is equally adept at painting still life compositions featuring exotic fruit or vibrant tropical flowers. She makes an annual working visit to Barbados where she finds inspiration in the intense light and warmth of the island, working in the haven of her veranda studio.
Lynn, who has also been a pastel consultant and advisor for Daler Rowney, has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally in countries such as France, Belgium, Italy and Barbados and her work is in collections around the world. In addition to The Harbour Gallery, Lynn’s work can also be seen at Innocent Fine Art in Bristol, the Studio Gallery in Padstow, and Osborne Studio Gallery in London’s Belgravia.
