Born in 1966 in Norwich, Mike Hindle studied at Hastings College of Arts and Technology, East Sussex and West Surrey College of Art and Design and began his career in Brighton, working as an artist, sculptor and furniture designer.
He became a full-time painter in 1992 when he came to Cornwall, where his work has been much in demand for almost 20 years.
“I love to paint, I love to create things, I love to explore, to challenge myself and find something that I did not know was there,” he said.
Having recently moved to Bath, Mike frequently returns to Cornwall to recharge his “inspirational battery”, motivated by the county’s dramatic landscapes and seascapes which form the basis of his work.
Working in a variety of media, his paintings are characterised by a sensitive use of colour and are dominated by a strong sense of place. The atmosphere he creates inspires a deep emotional response.
Mike's work can be seen in many galleries throughout the west country, as well as nationally and internationally.
