Jenny Aitken ARSMA graduated from UCW Aberystwyth in 1997 with a BA Joint Honours in Art & Art History.  In 2006, she was a finalist in the Artist Magazine Awards and in 2008, voted Derbyshire Artist of the Year.

Her work can be found in many private and public collections including the TV presenter, Sarah Willingham, Manor Quarry Ltd, Quadralene Ltd, Helms Briscoe UK, and Featherstone & Leach.

“Although I live in Derbyshire, on the edge of the Peak District” Jenny says, ” the sea is in my blood and the coast remains the primary inspiration for my painting.”

Jenny joined The Harbour Gallery in 2013, showing in our sister galleries in Scarlet & Bedruthan Hotels and due to her success, came into the main gallery in 2014.

“I want to tell a story,” Jenny continues “and achieve a full sense of a place. Each piece is born from my strong visual and emotional memories, where my associated thoughts are as integral to the painting’s creation as the shapes, colours and light.”

Jenny works in oils, both in the studio and direct from the landscape where she paints the Roseland exclusively for The Harbour Gallery. In 2021 she became an associate member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists (ARSMA).
