Lucy Marks was born and raised in the Brighton where she studied and received an MA in Fine Art. 

She works almost exclusively plein air (outdoors) working in both oil and watercolour working.  Her works aim is to capture the mood, atmosphere and light of her surroundings and often with larger works, returns to the studio to finish or upscale her sketches.

She is an associate member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, an associate of the Royal Watercolour Society, a member of the Chelsea Art Society, and a member of the Society of Women Artists and as well as showing at a multitude of private exhibitions, she has exhibited at exhibited at the Royal Watercolour Society, the Royal Society of Marine Artists, the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the ING Discerning Eye.

Still living on the South Coast of the U.K., Lucy devotes her practice to capturing the landscape in evocative oil and watercolour paintings and has shown and sold large oil paintings at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in both 2022 and 2023.  Her many awards include the ‘Sloane Stanley Medal’ (Chelsea Art Society), the British Art Prize Finalist and the Humphrey’s Purchase Prize and Drawing Bursary (ING).
