Constellations

I’ve been trying to perfect bread making over the years – to constantly find the best recipe – and it’s been quite an uphill struggle. The right amount of yeast/water/salt blend, the oven heat, the amount of resting and cooking time, etc. and I’m delighted to have recently found the perfect mix. What’s more, it achieves faultless results every time and takes no more than 5 minutes to prep!
Only this morning when making a loaf, it dawned on me how similar this process could have been when recruiting for my business, but thanks to exceptional luck, I hit the right mix the first time.
As we introduce a new staff member Pippa, to the blend this month, I realised that just like baking, a business is only as good as the choices of who one adds to it and when one should add them. And in that regard, I’ve been exceptionally lucky to have found exactly the right people at the right time.
Like all businesses, the tides of change draw us in one, then another direction. Although we may have an idea of where the business is headed, we must be flexible in allowing it to grow organically and it’s truly down to Joanna, Deborah and Emily’s skill in navigating those waters that we find ourselves still in business, despite some challenging times.
I’m sure you’ll all welcome Pippa when you next come in and I just know she’s going to be a great addition to the team, bringing some exciting abilities to add to our already abundant skillset. But just how we managed to attract the perfect team members when we did (after taking years trying to find the perfect bread mix!) I will never know.
Still, we have, and I’m exceptionally grateful to them all for having risen to the challenge (did you see what I did there?). So, welcome, Pippa! Oh, and if you fancy a go at the bread recipe, you’ll find the process on video here!
