After a walk along the coastpath from Portscatho, it feels like something of an ending when you arrive at Towan Beach. In the winter months, you can be there completely alone, save for a curious seal turning in the surf, drawn by playful dogs and passing walkers. When the tide is low and the light behind, the sandy ridges lure your eye down the beach and beyond to a hidden seal colony.
